What Size Tablecloth Do I Need?
All of our advertised sizes are for the size of the finished tablecloth and not the table that it will fit. Unfortunately, this is one of our most common reasons for returned orders and we know how inconvenient this can be for you.
We hope that this handy guide will help you choose the best fit.
The term 'drop' (overhang) refers to the section of the tablecloth that will fall down the side of the table. Depending on the look you wish to achieve will depend on what size overhang you will need.
Round & Square Tables
For round banqueting tables (5ft Round and 6ft Round tables) we would recommend approximately a 15" drop which will fall half way to the floor and roughly to the tops of the seats or a 30" drop which will allow the tablecloth to fall to the floor.
Once you know which measurement you would like you then need to multiply that figure by 2 (both sides of the table) and then add that figure to the diameter (across the widest part) of the table you wish to cover.
This calculation also works for square tables.
eg
5ft Table with a 15" drop
15 + 15 + 60 = 90
5ft Table with a 30" drop
30 + 30 + 60 = 120
Rectangle Tables
For rectangle trestle tables () we would recommend approximately a 15" drop which will fall half way to the floor and roughly to the tops of the seats or a 30" drop which will allow the tablecloth to fall to the floor.
For rectangle tables you will need to do two calculations one for the length and one for the width
This example is for a standard trestle table 29"(w) x 72"(l) x 30(h)
Calculation 1
drop + length + drop
15 + 72 + 15 = 102
30 + 72 + 30 = 132
Calculation 2
drop + width + drop
15 + 29 + 15 = 59
30 + 29+ 30 = 89
Tablecloth size
59" x 102
89" x 132"
